FIRST TEAM
HEATH 12 – SCUNTHORPE 17
On a sunny day but still day, the Greens started again with slight changes to the team with Nick Dyson & Will Robinson returning, Jack Brunt going into the 2nd row for the injured captain, Grant Elliot. A slight shuffle in the backs saw Will Robinson move to centre, Josh Lugsden moved to the wing and Ethan Heath Drury moved to fullback.
The Greens kicked off up the slight slope at Heath. Heath gathered the ball and kicked possession away. The Greens went forward and with Heath being penalised for offside under the new Dupont law, not retiring from the kick. The Greens kicked for the corner and from the line tried the usual catch and drive but to no avail. Heath again kicked into the Greens half and so this went on for some 10 mins with the Greens attacking but losing the ball on the final move. The Greens in an attempt to clear the ball from their own half kicked the ball into touch on the full, meaning Heath had an attacking position for the 1st time. From the line out the Greens were caught offside just inside their own half were subsequently penalised and the fullback scored the penalty. Heath 3-0 14 mins
Play then continued in the same manner with the Greens attacking and Heath defending until Heath were penalised for a high tackle on the Heath 10 metre line. After numerous attempts at kicking for the corner the Greens kicked their only 2nd penalty of the season. Penalty kicked Ethan Taylor. 3-3 27 mins.
Roles then reversed for a while with Heath now attacking in the Greens half but having the same issue of the final ball not going to hand or being spilled. Eventually Heath gave away a penalty in the Greens half for another high tackle bringing the referee to call the Heath captain over for a warning about the number of these happening.
The game ebbed and flowed in this manner until a further high tackle penalty saw the Heath number 9 being the recipient of a yellow card for the team’s earlier misdemeanors. Play continued in this way with just an attempted penalty kick by the Greens miss The 1st half fizzled out shortly after this. The half was broken up by players injuries meaning from start to finish there were 50 mins.
Heath 3 Scunthorpe 3
The game in the 2nd continued in the same vein with neither side being able to get any fluidity into the game and the next score saw Heath getting a penalty in the Greens half to be converted. 6-3 60 mins
A kick ahead by Heath saw Lewis Talbot caught in the air from the ensuing penalty the Greens kicked for the corner and with the line out won by Ben Hyde the Greens finally made a catch and drive count for James Dyson to score the 1st try of the game. From not the easiest of kicks Ethan Taylor converted 6 – 10 63 mins
Play toed and fro-ed with the Greens on the attack then Heath until the Greens conceded a penalty for offside pretty much in front of the posts. Heath decided a kick at goal was the best option. Converted. 9 – 10.
Play continued for a short period with the Greens breaking out through the backs with Will Robinson being brought down in the Heath half. A long break was then taken when a Heath player was cleared out at a ruck taking a knock to the head. The referee stopped the game immediately for attention to the player. From the scrum the Greens went from side to side before a break by James Dyson saw 2 players in the attempt to tackle him clash heads, play continued with James Dyson playing to the whistle and carrying 2 Heath players with him to get over the line for a try. Converted by Ethan Taylor.
9-17 37 mins. There was a long break while the 2 players who clashed heads were treated.
Heath kicked and in an attempt to see the game out were eventually penalised for going off their feet at the ruck. Penalty kicked by Heath. 12-17 39 mins
From the kickoff the Greens didn’t get the ball the requisite 10 metres bringing a scrum to Heath on the halfway line. From this a high tackle saw a penalty for a high tackle saw Heath kick for the corner. The line out saw Heath carry the ball into the Greens 22 only to be penalised for holding on to the ball at the ruck. This thankfully was the last passage of play. Ethan Taylor took the tap and kicked the ball from the field of play for the referee to blow for full time. Heath 12 Scunthorpe 17 FT
A workmanlike performance by the Greens saw them win a game which was punctuated by numerous injuries throughout the game. Not conducive to the Greens high tempo game.

THIRD TEAM
SCUNTHORPE 28 – GOOLE 17
A beautiful day for rugby yesterday and a great game to be a part of. In a strange turn of events, Scunthorpe started strong with some big carry’s in the forwards then and excellent little shimmy by feel to go through a gap and the fantastic support by Christopher Barker saw Scunthorpe up by 7 in the first 10 minutes.
Scunthorpe continued to apply the pressure onto goole with amazing hands and big carry’s in the forwards, they really but a shift in the week, and eventually the pressure took its role and after a quick switch in play, Joe Marritt went over the white was, Scunthorpe up 14-0.
Goole finally woke up and started to apply pressure took Scunthorpe but this day the wall would not be breached and every man put his body on the line and tackled like their life depended on it. Then Ricky Smart got the ball and scored. Half time 21-0
Second half saw Goole come out the starters blocks with a new lease of life, their best player by far, Harry Soulby carrying their team up the park on his back saw Goole go over the whitewash 21-5
Scunthorpe continued with a bit of self sabotage, dropping communication but keeping up with the big first up tackles and a huge tackle from Cameron Ogg on Gooles little winger picking him up and showing him the side line, we are still not sure if he has recovered (Ian Lee). unfortunately allowing fool over the try line after a sustained period of defence 21-12
Scunthorpe woke up and put some good phase play together, black balls from the forwards and fantastic hands from the backs saw Cam Ogg run in for his leaving present to the 3rds scoring under the posts with that big beautiful smile of his. 28-12.
Goole scored, not sure who. 28-17 Final score.
