We regrouped and sorted out our scrum and eventually gelled together as a team. The scoreline went quiet for a while but the game definitely didn’t, both teams equally matched grinding away at each other with physicality coming from both sides.

Malton took 3 yellows 5 mins before half time and despite putting the pressure on, we did not make the most of the opportunity and failed to score.

Entering the second half 7-0 down, we kept up the pace and eventually Karl Hull broke through and took the points with Ash on the conversion. Quickly after their flanker broke the line while we were watching the ruck and took the 5 points, fortunately the conversion didn’t get between the posts.

We regrouped and didn’t give up and in the last play the mighty wrecking ball aka Connor graves took the try, it was awarded as a penalty try so we received the 7, but no one would have stopped him!

Special mention to James David (Craig) for his first game with the Patriots and a mighty performance on the wing, put his body on the line and covered every blade of grass
